The Origins of the Religion of Secular Humanism—the Mother of All Counterfeit Religious Systems

The Bible in Genesis chapter three speaks about a snake in a tree that gave the first humans a seemingly harmless fruit that when eaten would cause their eyes to be opened, so that now they would supposedly be like God and live forever. To the average person, what the serpent offered sounds like a good deal. Who doesn’t want to be like God and live forever? But beneath this ostensibly harmless and quaint Bible story, that when uncovered reveals a sinister side which is the root of all the evil that has occurred in the world from then until now. This seemingly harmless event is, in reality, the nascence of the epic and perennial struggle between good and evil that has plagued this earth from the beginning.

 To comprehend fully the nature of this struggle, it is essential first to understand who the key figures are in this story, that is, who is the Protagonist and the antagonist. On the side of good is YHVH Elohim, who is a loving Father and the Creator of all there is including man, whom he created in his own image eventually be part of his spiritual family. He is the source of all goodness, beauty, righteousness, justice and truth. The Bible from beginning to end is revelation of this Supreme and Eternal Being whose name is Yehovah (or YHVH) Elohim. He his a grand and glorious plan to elevate man little-by-little from the physical level to the spiritual level, eternal level, in a similar way that a loving parent trains his or her child to become a mature, fully functioning adult. 

On the other side was a serpent-like being who makes his first appearance on the earth’s stage in Genesis chapter three. To the first humans, the serpent presents alternative route to godhood. It was a way that circumvented YHVH Elohim. It was as if the serpent was attempting to kidnap the first humans to deceptively subvert them so they would turn away from their parents and go in a completely antithetical direction to the ways of their parents. 

When can learn much about the nature of the pernicious serpent by examining the meaning of his biblical Hebrew name nachash—a word which is found 31 times in the Tanakh or Old Testament (OT).  In the King James Bible, for example, nachash is translated as “serpent” in all cases. The Hebrew root of this word means “to practice divination, divine, observe signs, learn by experience, diligently observe, practice fortune-telling, take as an omen.” Nachash is almost identical to the Hebrew word for copper or bronze, and some scholars think that the two words are related because of the color, since some snakes are copper in color (i.e., America’s copperhead snakes). A cognate of these two words is n’hushtan, which is the bronze serpent that Moses made (Num 21:9–9). The LXX (the Greek translation of the OT translated nachash as ophis, the Greek word for snake, in all instances (see The TWOT). Although this passage doesn’t relate the serpent to Satan, the adversary, John makes this connection twice in Revelation (Rev 12:9; 20:2).

But there is even more to the word nachash as biblical scholar Michael Heiser points out. The meaning of nachash is both plain and elastic. The most literal meaning is “serpent.” When the Hebrew root letters n-ch-sh are a noun, the meaning is “serpent.” But n-ch-sh can also be a verb when different vowels are added (i.e., nochesh). It then means “diviner.” “Divination refers to communication with the supernatural world. A diviner in the ancient world was one who foretold omens or gave out divine information (or oracles)” (The Unseen Realm, p. 87). The consonants n-ch-sh can also form an alternate noun referring to copper or bronze smiths. Nechosheth is the Hebrew word for bronze and copper, which are shiny when polished, and which can be used to describe divine beings (Dan 10:6; ibid.). In the case of n-ch-sh in Genesis 3:1, Heiser believes that the writer wants the reader to think of all the possible meanings and nuances of the word. As such, he suggests that there are immediate clues in the story that the serpent is more than a mere snake, that he may be a divine adversary, and that the term nachash may be a triple entendre. Elsewhere, Scripture refers to the serpent as a cherub, a divine being who was a guardian of Elohim’s throne (Ezek 28:16 cp. Exod 15:18–22). 

So how does this serpent-like, divine being who is advertorial in nature relate to our Genesis chapter three story and his tempting of the first humans to rebel against YHVH Elohim? It is this serpent-cherub who dispenses divine information used to lure Eve into sin, when he gave her the omen that if she ate of the fruit of the forbidden tree of knowledge that she wouldn’t really die, that her eyes would be opened and that she could be like Elohim without having to obey his instructions. Moreover, the serpent-cherub’s shiny appearance conveyed a divine nature, making the serpent more credible and believable. All of these meanings of n-ch-sh are consistent with what Genesis 3, Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 reveal to us about the serpent (ibid, pp. 87–88).

Why is this background information so important in understanding the religion of secular humanism? This is because the first few verses of Genesis chapter three reveal that Satan, as YHVH’s arch-adversary is the originator of all the counterfeit religious systems of the world which are direct opposition to the truth of Elohim as revealed in the Bible. How is this? Let’s first review this passage of Scripture and then explain what we mean and how this is so. From the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the following drama played out:

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the YHVH Elohim had made. And he said to the woman, “Has Elohim indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Elohim has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ “Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For Elohim knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like Elohim, knowing good and evil.” (Gen 3:1–5)

As we are about to discover, all of the world’s religious systems and man-made philosophies fall under the power and influence of the serpent’s lies that originated in the Garden of Eden at the tree of knowledge. These false system can broadly be defined as secular humanism. 

What is secular humanism and how does the devil use it to further his rebellious opposition to Elohim? At its core, secular humanism (as defined by Francis Schaeffer in his book The Great Evangelical Disaster, p. 32) is freedom from all restraint and especially rebellion against Elohim’s biblical truth.

When Satan originally rebelled against Elohim, he attempted to dethrone the Creator and lift himself up in Elohim’s place (Isa 14:12–14). Here in the Garden of Eden, Satan the serpent employed the same subversive tactics as in his original, earlier rebellion. He attempted to subvert the will of the Creator by calling into question the character of Elohim to Adam and Eve. This was an attack against the character of the Creator. In modern terms, we refer to this as an ad hominem attack, where you attack a person’s character rather than addressing the facts of the issue at hand. In this way, the serpent successfully lowered man’s esteem for Elohim, and at the same time elevated man’s esteem for himself at Elohim’s expense. The biblical record reveals that this is a standard attack technique of Satan. He continually pits the forces of his kingdom behind anything that will compromise the authority of Elohim by attacking the character of the Creator. Once the Creator is diminished if not eliminated from the scene in man’s thinking, it is upon this false foundation of evil lies, that the devil can then construct his own counterfeit kingdom that is in opposition to that of YHVH Elohim. The most notable example of this false (antichrist) kingdom is found in Revelation 13 where an end times worldwide system is described called Mystery Babylon the Great. There in a vision, John sees this false system likened a series of monster-like creatures, empowered by Satan, which stand in defiant opposition to Elohim. Similarly, in the end times, Satanic forces will infiltrate the Christian church and plant doctrines of demons and seeds of rebellion against the Word and will of Elohim (1 Tim 4:1).

Secular humanism at its most fundamental level seeks to dethrone Elohim as the Creator, Ruler, Lawgiver and Judge if not to eliminate him all together from having any influence in the affairs of men, and if possible, to relegate his memory to the trash of history as ancient fables contrived by primitive humans.

Humanism promotes the notion that now that Elohim has been dethroned, and man can now place himself on the throne of his life, thus usurping Elohim’s authority. This is all under the power and influence of Satan, of course, whether man is aware of this or not. Satan cares little if man sees him as the driving force behind this subversive movement, just as long Satan ultimately remains in charge. 

At the core of humanistic philosophy is the assumption that man is innately good and sinless, instead of sinful and morally depraved as the Bible teaches. If man is the paragon of goodness and not evil, then he is now qualified to be the sole determiner of what is good and evil. Now, who needs an Elohim telling him what to do? Each person for himself is now the determiner of what is good and evil, hence the name the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. With Elohim out of the picture, man can now choose for himself what is good and evil. Schaeffer describes secular humanism this way.

[It is] a consensus that stands in total antithesis to the Christian truth at every point—including the denial of the supernatural; belief in the all-sufficiency of human reason; the rejection of the fall [of man into sin]; denial of the deity of Christ and his resurrection; belief in the perfectibility of Man; and the destruction of the Bible and with this has come a total moral breakdown” (Evangelical Disaster, pp. 35–36).

Schaeffer calls humanism “a fundamental conflict between ‘the wisdom of this world’ and the ‘wisdom of Elohim.” As previously noted, Satan is the originator and prime instigator behind the anti-Elohim religious philosophy of secular humanism. Satan’s rebellion against his Creator is characterized by the five “I will” statements of Isaiah 14:13–14, and which are summarized by his final assertion: “I will be like the Most High.” At the tree of knowledge, Satan disguised as a serpent successfully conned man into buying into this same idea that man can be like Elohim by rebelliously disregarding the Word of his Creator (Gen 3:4). To this day, the proponents of the secular humanist philosophy adhere to the idea that man is his own god, and that Elohim is either non-existent or, if he does exist, is irrelevant. Either way, man is his own god, is at the center of the universe, is the sole determiner of what is right and wrong, and in no way needs Elohim for anything, nor is man answerable to any Supreme Being for his actions.

The Development of Humanism in the Bible

Satan Was the First Humanist

Satan was the first one to rebel against YHVH and his laws.His end game was to kick YHVH off his throne and to exalt himself to that place of authority and honor (note the five “I wills” of Isaiah 14:12–14).

How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations! For you have said in your heart, “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of El: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

The rebellious ideas expressed by the devil as recorded in Isaiah are part and parcel with those spouted by modern secular humanists. There is nothing new under the sun. The devil has continued to repeat the same old lies in his efforts to seduce man to his side in rebellious defiance against YHVH Elohim.

Humanism Started in the Garden of Eden and Will End With the New World Order—Babylon the Great

Having seduced man in the Garden of Eden to rebel against the Creator, it was ultimately Satan’s aim for man to worship him instead of Elohim. Scripture recognizes this satanic notion when it calls Satan the “god of this world” (2 Cor 4:4).

As Satan successfully subverted the first Adam to follow him, in essence to worship him, likewise he attempted to seduce Yeshua, the Second Adam, to fall down and worship him (Matt 4:1–10).

Just prior to the second coming, Satan will attempt to rule this world as the Antimessiah with men worshipping him (Rev 13:2, 4, 12–13, 15).

Those who worship the devil will receive his mark on their foreheads and hands signifying that their thoughts and actions are in accord with the Lucifer or Satan (Rev. 13:14–16; 14:9). Similarly yet conversely, those who worship YHVH in Spirit and truth will have his “mark” in, not on their foreheads. They will, as his bond servants, be sealed with his name in their foreheads (Rev 7:3; 9:4 cp. Exod 13:9, 16; Deut 6:8; 11:18). Those who have YHVH’s “mark” or seal will be spared from many of the plagues of the Great Tribulation (Rev 7:34; 9:4 cp. Ezek 9:4, 6). Scripture indicates that this seal is his name (i.e., his character, reputations, power and authority) written in their hearts and minds (Rev 22:4).

What will cause people to take Satan’s mark on their foreheads? Will there be many who will literally run to get this mark since it will be popular to do so? For example, how popular were the recently published Harry Potter books? When a new one came out it was breaking news. Tens of millions were sold instantly with people waiting in line for hours to buy the books. What is the mark that the fictional teenage sorcerer Harry Potter wears on his forehead? It is a lightning bolt. Yeshua said that he saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven (Luke 10:18 cp. Rev 12:9). Is Harry Potter’s lightning bolt preparing people to literally run to take the mark of the beast because it will be the “in thing” to do? 

Satan Founded the First Religion Called Humanism

Satan was the founder of the world’s first anti-Elohim religion. This religion was based on man pulling himself up by his own bootstraps, so to speak, without YHVH’s help (i.e., he was the creator of the first works and legalistic-based religious system). Humanism believes that man can save himself through his own efforts without outside help or intervention from a deity. All the false religious systems of the world have bought into and purvey this anti-biblical notion.

Satan’s religion gives humans what they want—it caters to the base sin nature of men. All the false religions of the world spring from Satan’s religion of humanism; all are works-based and give the flesh what it wants and gratify the mind and ego’s quest for “gnosis” without have to deal with man’s fallen nature and make recompense to Elohim for his sin

All the religions of the world, except that which is founded solely on the undiluted truth of the Bible, are based on rebellion to YHVH’s revealed truth and the need for man to be redeemed for the death penalty of sin by way of the cross of Yeshua the Messiah.

The Time Between the Garden of Eden and Babylon the Great

Satan is attempting to sway, deceive and seduce men to his side in his rebellion against Elohim (including, if possible, the very elect saints) through doctrines of demons. Scripture speaks of this: “Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron” (1 Tim 4:1–2).

Other Manifestations of Humanism In Scripture

Nimrod Was a Humanist

Nimrod was the first collectivist or communist in that he formed cities and founded the first empire. He was a mighty hunter “before” (in front of, in the face of or against) YHVH (Gen 10:9); he was the first savior of the world, the first to collectivize people into cities, the first emperor, the first tyrant. He was the first human to raise his fist in defiance against and in the face of Elohim when he built the Tower of Babel.

The Children of Israel Were Plagued With Humanists and Humanistic Influence

  • The golden calf incident (Exod 32) was an attempt to syncretize the worship of YHVH with a pagan religion of Egypt (Exod 32:5). This was an early interfaith movement on the part of Israelite humanists.
  • Nadab and Abihu, sons of Aaron the High Priest, offered up strange fire to YHVH and were struck dead for their rebelliousness (Lev 10:1–7). This was a case of man not following YHVH’s clear procedural instructions on how to offer incense and of Nadab and Abihu approaching YHVH by doing it “their way” and not his way. This is a classic humanistic characteristic: each man doing what is right in his own eyes. 
  • The twelve Israelite spies’ evil report of the Promised Land (Num 13) is another example humanism. They had no faith in YHVH’s promises and Word. To them he was a liar. They preferred to stay where they were (in the wilderness of their present world) with the attitude of eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die, rather than having faith in future rewards for present obedience and faith.
  • Korah was a humanist who rebelled against YHVH’s divine order and authority as represented by Moses. He promoted revolution and the overthrow of legitimate government. Had Karl Marx been alive at the time, Korah would have made a good member of the Communist Party as he attempted to overthrow divinely mandated authority. In Numbers 16:1–3, we see that he separated himself from the rest of Israel to form his own opposing political party, and, in the spirit of democracy, community organizing and activism, he gathered like-minded malcontents to his side, rose up against Moses who was YHVH’s authority figure on earth, and accused Moses of wrong-doing. This was Satan’s pattern in the Eden—that is, to divide and conquer, form an opposition party, rebel against authority, and then subversively accuse the other side of what he was guilt of himself.
  • Balaam was a humanist and tried to seduce Israel to untie or syncretizing with the heathens through sexual liaisons (Rev 2:14). 
  • Phineas opposed humanism (immorality and syncretism) when he killed Zimri and Cozbi (Num 25:1ff).
  • The tribes of Reuben and Gad fell under the sway of humanistic ideas when they sought their own well being at the rest of Israel’s expense, sought materialism ahead of obedience to YHVH to go into the Promised Land, and when they stopped short of the Promised Land to enjoy “a humanist heaven” on the wrong side of the Jordan River (Num 32). Humanists do not want to go all the way in obeying YHVH. This is falling under the influence of the “big lie.” You can have it your way with one foot in the world and one foot in the kingdom of heaven.
  • Every time the Israelites murmured against YHVH, they demonstrated a lack of faith by not believing his Word or promises. This was a spirit of humanism. In essence, they viewed YHVH as a liar and trusted in themselves rather than in his word and promises. Whenever they rebelled against YHVH or Moses they were acting as humanists. Idolatry, lust, ungratefulness, dishonor of parents are all aspects of secular humanism.
  • When the Israelites turned from obedience to Torah to following the religious practices of the nations around them Scripture says that “every man did that which was right in his own eyes (Deut 12:8; Judg 17:6; 21:25). This is the same old humanist mantra of if it feels good, do it, or do what thou wilt.
  • King Saul become a humanist when he refused to obey YHVH’s instructions. The end result of rejection of divine authority was his turning to witchcraft (1 Sam 15:23).

The 2024 US Elections are over, the dust is settling and now it’s time to reflect. What just happened in living color before our eyes? Why is there so much hatred? Why has the United States of America become the Divided States of America? What are the spiritual root causes of the vitriol and division where one side wants to murder (verbally or sometimes eve literally) the other side? One side is all about kill, steal and destroy—about death and destruction. What’s going on here? As Bible believers, who is our REAL enemy? It is not people, but a spirit. To confront and then defeat one’s enemy, one must first know who they are, and second know their tactics. Secular Humanism (Pt 1)—Exploring the Root Causes of America’s Current Civil War

Post Election Analysis

The once United States of America has just emerged from a presidential election where we are anything but united. We are united in name only, but, in reality, it is now the Divided States of America. How did we get here and who are the main players in this giant kabuki theatrical act? What is the source and origin of this division where the two sides are squared off against each other in pitched formation with muskets and cannon perpetually ready to fire?  Who is to blame? Even though the more traditionalist, conservative and patriotic side has won the current battle, the culture war still rages on. What can we learn from this and where do we go from here?

America may not be in a literal or hot civil war where one side is firing muskets and cannons at each other, but, to be sure we are in a cold, cultural and spiritual civil war. The one side that calls itself democratic is using every possible means—after all, don’t you that the ends justify the means—to destroy its opponents. Their weapons du jour? Censure free speech and attack one’s opponents in every possible with shoot to kill orders. This involves viciously attacking their enemies politically and judicially, the use of lawfare to destroy one’s reputation and finances, Stalinist-like show trials where one imprison one’s opponents for little or no reason, the destruction of the businesses and economic opportunities of one’s enemies, the use the governmental security and intelligence agencies to spy on and persecute one’s opponents, the use the media to vilify one’s opponents through unverified accusations and by stating lies as facts and by accusing one’s opponent of what one is guilty of oneself (in psychological terms called projectionism). Other means employed to vilify one’s enemies included ad hominem or character assassination tactics. Names were used such as deplorables, garbage, stupid, fascist, Nazis, Hittlers, white supremicists, racists, misogynists and much more. A generation ago, who would have remotely guessed that the terms “American” or “patriot” would become pejorative bywords in America itself? 

The America haters even attacked the populace through so-called pandemics. What could have been more telling than the imposition of face masks to symbolically and suggestively gagged the public thus curtailing the freedom to speak out against such anti-U.S. Constitution tyranny? If that was not enough, many more constitutionally guaranteed civil liberties were either abridged or outright suspended such as the right to gather, to speak freely, to move about freely, and to publish freely one’s opinions. Generally speaking, the right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness including the freedom of operate one’s business and occupational pursuits in order to support oneself and one’s family were limited or made illegal. Since when are illegal mandates suddenly legal? Another Amerika has emerged out of the confusion and dystopic disorder. Can we come out of this? Only time will tell. 

Currently the New America is not America anymore. Gone are the days when the two political parties were both overtly patriotic and loved their country, and even though they may have had different visions of how to make America better, they still respected each other enough to agree to disagree without being disagreeable. They worked things out through respectful discourse leading to compromise. Now for the leftist, so-called progressive side, it is my way or the highway. If you disagree with me, you are scum and deserve to die figuratively if not literally. If they fail to get their way, the are the first either to murder you with their words, destroy your reputation and business, declare you to be an enemy of the state, label as mentally ill, imprison you on trumped up charges, or even try to assassinate you. Does the former Soviet Union, communist China or Castro’s Cuba ring anyone’s bell? To this point, more and more people who fled those tyrannical, totalitarian regimes for freedom in America are now sounding the alarm that the land of the free and the home of the brave is heading in the same direction as these failed experiments in secular humanistic idealism that promised a utopia for the masses but instead delivered a hell on earth dystopia, which is why they fled those countries often at great personal risk for America. Do we humans never learn from the lessons of history? 

Thankfully, a majority of Americans resoundingly said, “NO!” to the demonic agendas of the “progressive leftists” by voting out the current regime. Enough Americans searched their soul and realized that something was amiss with the status quo, normative narrative. There is a glimmer of hope for us. So what will we do now with what heaven has given us? 

Now that the U.S. presidential election is history, and Providence has mercifully given America another reprieve from the severe judgments that we deserve for largely turning away from the Almighty Creator Elohim, it is time to reflect on a few things. In this epic battle, who is the real enemy? Is it the “progressive, leftist Democratic Party” and their acolytes, or is it something greater and way beyond that? As always and as truth seekers, we must attempt to dig deeply into the soil from which movements ideologies spring up to discover the real source and origin of such things. The noxious weed above the ground is merely the surface manifestations of its roots that go deep. Nature and common sense teaches us that first there is a seed, then the roots, then a sprout, then the plant and then more seeds and the cycle repeats itself again and again down through the cyclical course of human history. History repeats itself again and again. There is nothing new under the sun. The world is a giant and ongoing theatrical play. The story line and plot are always the same; only the actors and costumes change.

So what are the roots of the current spiritual, sociological and cultural hell on earth in which we currently find ourselves? To find a solution to a problem, one must identify the causes. There is never a political or economic solution to a spiritual problem.

Secular Humanism: The Devil’s Original Lie and the Religion of the New World Order

We are presently watching unfolding before us an epic and cosmic struggle between the forces of evil and good. The world system or cosmos of the devil is pitted against the unalterable and immutable plans, purposes and Word of the sovereign Creator of the universe, YHVH Elohim. Ultimately, it boils down to the epic and perennial battle between the spirit of antichrist versus YHVH-Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ).

As we watch the rise of violent rebellion and civil disobedience in western—formerly Christian—nations (and elsewhere), it would behoove us to determine what is at the root and core of this movement, so that we can determine its source and what our response should be.

Human nature has never changed from the beginning of human history to the present. What is happening today has happened before. Only the actors, costumes and theater venues have changed, but the story’s plot is the same from the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden until now. 

This ever-repeating and sad never-ending story goes like this: Elohim the Creator laid down certain rules and guidelines for humans to follow for their own blessing and well-being. Along came a snake in a tree to dissuade humans to rebel against Elohim’s rule of law, and rebellious and malcontented humans egged on by the same God-hating snake (that is, Satan the arch-rebel) have been marching to the same drum beat ever since.

We see the modern manifestations of this same satanic rebellion in the various current leftist movements that like the many-headed Hydra of ancient Greek mythology have many faces: leftism, atheism, secular humanism, moral relativism, socialism, the rise of the nanny-state, the rise in democratic mob rule, race wars, the attack on Judea-Christians values, the rise of false and Antichrist religious systems, evolution, rebellion against western culture and history and so on.

This is not to say that western culture is perfect and that there aren’t systemic problems that need fixing and that some of the issues of the leftist malcontents aren’t legitimate. There are problems that need fixing, but left’s solution of destroying the biblical foundations of the west is not the answer to the problem. The problem is that the left generally wants to kill, steal and destroy in its effort to supposedly correct the problems in western societies that despite their weaknesses have generally done more good than harm in improving the human condition when held up against the backdrop of human history. And the left has no solutions to the problems of western civilization. Their only solutions is societal upheaval—to kill, steal and destroy. They can’t point to one example past or present where their ideologies have worked. In the wake of leftist ideals there as always been mass bloodshed, anarchy, mayhem, repression, loss of freedom, enslavement and loss of social liberties. Always!

To understand the evil spirit that is behind modern leftism, let’s go back to the Bible to one of the earliest leftists—Korah the malcontent. When we study his character, life and methods of operation, we will see many parallels between him and and the modern rabble rousers who are trying to turn society on its head and usurp authority for themselves.

The Spirit of Korah

The spirit of Korah is currently alive and well on planet earth. The righteous must discern, identify and then oppose this evil spirit. Everywhere in every way, this demonic spirit of rebellion is attempting to destroy the work of YHVH Elohim on earth.

The spirit of Korah is the spirit of rebellion against YHVH and his divine authority and biblical truth. In our society, it is manifested in the philosophies of secular humanism, atheism, the New Age Movement, radical environmentalism, earth worship, progressivism, socialism, Marxism, evolution, which are all aspects of the Babylon the Great, New World Order political-religious system that will oppose the saints of Yeshua and Yeshua himself at this second coming. We also see this spirit at work, supported and encouraged in international politics, in our own government, in our educational systems, in the media, in the false religions of the world, and in the apostate church where foundational Judeo-Christian biblical values are being rejected and even demonized.

The spirit Korah, the rebel, has even worked its way into the modern church system where it is attempting to subvert and pervert the truth of Elohim as revealed in the Bible, and to undermine legitimate, YHVH-ordained authority. Every man becomes his own spiritual leader, refuses the accountability afforded by authentic godly spiritual leadership, and basically chooses to do what is right in his own eyes. Many modern churches are going so far as to water down or reject core biblical truths and values and instead emphasize ecumenism, New Age thought, one-world spirituality and a social activist paradigm. Ultimately, this is a rejection of the divine truth of YHVH Elohim as revealed in the Scriptures.

The rebellion of Korah and his comrades against Moses and Aaron and Elohim’s resulting judgment against them is a prophetic picture of what will happen in the end times against all modern Korah-like rebels. In fact, it is a picture of the judgment of Elohim that will happen to ALL sinners who choose to rebel against YHVH, his will, his Word and truth, his plans and purposes and those on this earth who are carrying out his will.

The spirit of Korah continues to manifest itself in uprisings against godly authority both within the church, and globally as the New World Order, which the Book of Revelation calls Babylon the Great, takes a more strident and virulent stand against Elohim, the Bible and the saints.

The fate of Korah and his band of rebellious malcontents is a prophetic picture of YHVH’s end time judgments against all those who dare to stand against him. The second chapter of Psalm speaks about this:

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against YHVH, and against his anointed, saying, “Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.” He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: Adonai shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.… Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

The Spirit of Korah Under a Microscope

The spirit of Korah IS NOT a pretty picture when looked at closely.

Although Korah was a Levite, the grandson of Levi, and therefore a cousin to Moses and Aaron, he was not a priest, but he coveted the priesthood given to Aaron and his sons.

Dathan, Abiram and On were sons Reuben who was the disinherited firstborn son of Jacob and coveted the leadership role over Israel that YHVH had given to Moses and Aaron.

In their minds, this group of men had legitimate and legally based grounds for being discontent. Korah was a Levite and Dathan and his friends were leaders of the firstborn tribe of Israel.
