Are you feeding on fresh or stale manna?

Moldy bread. Isolated

Deuteronomy 11:13, If you will hearken. In the Hebrew, this phrase literally reads, “If hearken, you will hearken….” Rashi interprets the double usage of this verb to mean, “If [you] listen to the old, you will listen to the new” meaning that if one listens to what one has already learned by taking care to review and understand it, one will gain new insights or fresh insights into the Torah (The ArtScroll Sapirstein Edition Rashi—Devarim, p. 110; The ArtScroll Stone Edition Chumash, p. 995).

What does this teach us about studying YHVH’s Word consistently and regularly? YHVH gave the Israelites fresh (not stale) manna every day and watered the land of Israel with the early and latter rains so that it would be fruitful without the need of man-made irrigation systems.

Manna and rain both came from heaven and are used as figures of speech Hebraically to represent Torah-truth. Is your life being renewed regularly with fresh revelation and insights into the Word of YHVH, into his very heart and character? Does this not refresh, nourish and sustain the ground of your life so that it yields an abundant spiritual crop of joy, shalom, intimacy with the Father and anointing? Is your life a place of fresh manna and constant rain, or a place of stale bread and drought? If so, what changes do you need to make in your life to change this situation?

Study, Study, and Study the Word of Elohim! It’s Your Lifeline.

I just wanted to share how Carol White from Los Cruces, New Mexico organizes her week around the Hoshana Rabbah Biblical Discipleship Resource’s Bible study materials. Perhaps this will give you some ideas of some possibilities in how to study the Word of Elohim in a disciplined manner.

Bible, studying the

Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your Blog Scripture Readings. It has worked out so well in my daily prayers and readings.

On Sunday I read the Parashat. Monday the Haftarah. Tuesday the Prophets. Wednesday the Writings. And then on Thursday the Testimony.

This leaves Friday and Saturday where I can focus on the Sabbath and studying the other materials you provide on the website.

What a great way to spend the week in Abba’s Word and stay on track with the weekly Parashat and other Scriptures!

Thank you so much for developing this helpful and useful blog.

I can’t emphasize enough the importance of a daily routine of studying the Word of Elohim. It’s literally a spiritual lifesaver for every child of Elohim. It is the answer to all the ills that face you individually, your family, your city, your state, our nation and the world!

The Bible is full of examples that point us to the need to be washed in the water of YHVH’s Word daily. Whether it was the twice daily sacrifices that occurred in the tabernacle and temple that are a picture of our prayers and devotions going up to heaven, or the menorah being cleaned and relit each evening, or the Jerusalem apostles visiting the temple for the regular set time of prayer, or David worshipping Elohim seven times daily, or Daniel thrice daily, our daily Bible study is a spiritual lifeline that enables us to survive and thrive in a world that is bent on snuffing out every ember of YHVH’s spiritual light, love and truth.

The reason I started this blog was to encourage and to facilitate the study of the Word of Elohim in your life. This is what our whole ministry is dedicated to doing.

What Is the Midpoint of the Torah?

Leviticus 10:16, Diligently sought or inquired insistently (ASET). According to one Jewish tradition, these two words are the exact halfway mark of the words of the Torah. “This is to teach us that the entire Torah revolves around constant inquiry. One must never stop studying and seeking deeper and broader understanding of the Torah” (The ArtScroll Vayikra/Leviticus Commentary, p. 159).

How many times have you read a passage in the Word of Elohim only to receive a fresh revelation or to find a new nugget of understanding? This is because the Word of Elohim is spiritually alive! (Heb 4:12; John 14:25–26; 16:13; also Ps 119:30; Isa 55:11.)

It must be noted that other Jewish traditions place the center of the Torah in other passages. (These options are discussed in the Babylonian Talmud, Kiddushin 30a.)
