An Amazing End Times Prophecy in Hosea 5 and 6

Two Sticks Prophecy

Hosea 5:15–6:3, I will go and return to my place. This passage is a clear prophecy concerning the resurrection of the righteous dead of which Messiah Yeshua is the first to raise.

Verse two contains a Hebrew parallelism, which is a Hebraic literary device where the same thought is expressed differently back-to-back. The word revive is the Hebrew word chayah and is the basic Hebrew root verb meaning “to live or to have life.” The word raise up is the Hebrew word quwm meaning “to rise, arise, stand, stand up.” According to The TWOT, the basic meaning of this word “denotes rising up from a prostrate position (e.g. Josh 3:16).”

YHVH is speaking here in the broader context of this passage concerning his Messianic role as the lion of Judah (Rev 5:5). After presenting himself as such to both houses of Israel (Ephraim [i.e., the Christians] and Judah [i.e., the Jews]) at his first coming, verse 14 states that Messiah would “go away … and none shall rescue him.”

Then in verse 15 we read that, “I [Messiah speaking] will go and return to my place till they [Ephraim/the Christians and Judah/the non-believing Jews] acknowledge their offense and seek my face ….” (This refers to Yeshua’s absence from the earth between his first and second comings.) What is their offense? Isaiah 8:14 states that that which offends both houses of Israel is “the stone of stumbling and … rock of offence.” Who is this Rock of offense? Verses 8 and 10b identifies it as Immanuel (El with us), which is one of the titles of the Messiah. The Christians have stumbled over Yeshua, the Written Torah-Word of Elohim made flesh, saying that the Torah-law has been done away with, while the Jews have stumbled over the Yeshua, the Living Torah, declaring that he can’t be the Messiah.

However, after two days (i.e., 2000 years) YHVH will revive us or resurrect the righteous dead of Ephraim and Judah or those who have been grafted into the olive tree (a metaphor for Israel, see Jer 11:16; Hos 14:6) or into the commonwealth of Israel through Messiah Yeshua (see Rom 11:16–26; Eph 2:11–19) the end of the age. This occurs on the third day, or in the third millennia from the time of Messiah’s first coming (or approximately in the year 6000 from the beginning of creation) when he will raise up (or resurrect) the righteous redeemed of Ephraim and Judah at his second coming. In our day, many Christians are awaking spiritually to the pro-Torah, Hebraic roots of their faith, even as many Jews are awaking to the truth of and coming to faith in Yeshua the Messiah. Together, at Yeshua’s second coming, members from both of these groups who have accepted Yeshua the Messiah and who love him by keeping his Torah commands (John 14:14; Rev 12:17; 14:12) will be resurrected to eternal life.

As Messiah Yeshua raised from the dead on the third day becoming the first of the first fruits to raise from the dead (1 Cor 15:20, 23), even so, he will resurrect his saints at his second coming on the third day (or the third millennia after his “going away” after his first coming). After that, he shall “go forth” and “shall come unto us” (i.e., the second coming) very much alive to lead his people during the Messianic Age (Millennium).

  1. Shalom Natan this is so timely for me. I have been trying to understand what is the Messianic Age compared to the World to Come ( not sure if it is called Olam Haba as I sit here ) I have been reading an Ashkenazi prayer of thanksgiving for the food we have been given by Elohim which asks for blessing in both of these ages and thought myself the Messianic Age must have begun when Yeshua came to preach righteousness & not the 2nd coming for the Millenium. I can see what you have written makes more sense to my heart. What do we call this present time as we wait?

Blessings to all for good leadership in whatever nation we reside in. I have seen all sorts of things written/video about Trump. One fellow had a prophecy circa 2011 that Trump would be a righteous leader. Elohim can work miracles in any one of us and rise up a new creation from a hollow has-been full of sin for His Purpose to be achieved.

By His Hand may the redeemed love in Spirit & Truth despite Satan’s “noise” in our lives. Even if it is artillery……

  2. Natan. Shalom. I’ve been struggling for more than a year now. I hem and I haw all day long. I’ve been going to a Messianic church for a couple mo this now. And they say Torah is good but not necessary. And I know it’s more than that.

My question is would help me to stop reading blogs and watching vids about HRM for a while and just delve into scripture so as to gain a clearer view of scripture – and removing as much background noise as possible? I’d even like to avoid church all together too. You know how I feel?

    • Nothing can take the place of an individual delving deeply into and studying the word of Elohim. This is the foundation of your faith. If other activities are hindering you from doing that, then perhaps you need to back off from them for a while to get closer to Elohim through his word.

The purpose of this blog is not to be a crutch or replacement for studying the word, but to come along side of you while you are reading the daily Bible reading schedule. The aim is then to share insights we get from YHVH’s word with others so that we all can learn and grow together.

It is very tough to find a congregation that has the right balanced perspective on the Torah. If the one you’re going to has a twisted view on this, perhaps you need to step away for a bit, delve into the word yourself and get strengthened and then pray for the Father’s leading with regard to your fellowship involvements.

We go through seasons in our lives. Perhaps you’re in a season where you need to draw away and go into the wilderness for a little while to hear Yehovah’s voice more clearly. Withdrawing from regular fellowship shouldn’t be permanent situation, but it can be helpful for a season.

Does this make sense to you?

  3. This is so right on! We wait for His Day to Come Again! Knowing that it is year 6000 but the Calendar is off by lots of years , exactly how much. 5777 is almost here maybe 200 years or more?

    • The 5777 year is highly debatable. It is likely behind by about 250 years. Bottom line: We must be ready no matter what man’s calendar say the year is. None of us knows when this will be our last breath.
