Blog Scripture Readings for 10/21 through 10/27/12

Parashat Lekh L’kha — Genesis 12:1 – 17:27
Haftarah — Isaiah 40:27 – 41:16
Prophets — Joshua 17:1 – 24:33
Writings — Psalms 15:1 – 21:13
Testimony — Matthew 10:25 – 14:21

Most of this week’s blog discussion points will be on these passages.

There are 4 sections of scripture to read each day. One each from the Torah, the Prophets, the Writings, and from the Testimony of Yeshua. Each week, the Torah reading will follow the traditional one-year reading cycle as well as the haftarah. By reading all the scriptures on this schedule each day, you will have read all scriptures from Genesis to Revelation by the end of next Sukkot (2013)!

The full Scripture Reading Schedule broken down by each day can be found on the right sidebar under “Helpful Links.”

If you have general comments or questions on the weekly Scripture readings not addressed in a blog post, here’s a place for you to post those. Just use the “leave a reply” link below.

  1. I’m just catching up some reading from the first week that I missed. I noticed something interesting in Joshua 4:19-24

“The people came up from the Jordan on the 10th of the 1st month.” That is the day the Passover lamb was to be chosen. They camped at Gilgal. I have a note on Joshua 5:9 that Gilgal means “the rolling” and is the same root as Gilgatha (but they are obviously different locations). In Josh 4:20 twelve stones were set up at Gilgal as a witness to future generations that Israel crossed over on dry ground (both here and at the Red Sea).

Crossing the Jordan to enter the promised land at Gilgal on dry land on the day the Passover Lamb was set apart and 12 stones were set there as a witness. Do you see a picture this is painting for us?
