Update on Natan’s Mother’s Condition

Thank you for your prayers for my 84 year-old mother. She is not doing well.

She was taken to the hospital the other day where she was diagnosed with advanced liver cancer. We just found out that the cancer is also in her lungs and stomach.

She has no pain, but is extremely weak. She is conscious, and cognitive, but due to the weakness in her body is sleeping most of the time. Shortly, she will be moved into a care facility where she will be receiving end of life care.

Her spirits are good, her faith is strong and thankfully she is not suffering—an answer to prayer and a gift from heaven for a woman who has loved and served YHVH Elohim all of her life.

I am still dazed and in a state of disbelieving shock at Mom’s current condition considering her excellent health and her all natural and organic lifestyle including following the biblical dietary laws since she was a child. It all seems so surreal to me. Her health was such that she visited a medical doctor only twice in her long life—once in the 1940s when she had a broken arm, and two years ago when she suddenly came down with a medical condition that we now suspect was the precursor to her present condition. Because of the advanced stage of the cancer that is currently ravaging her body, it is unlikely that she will live much longer.

Mom has been the closest thing to the virtuous woman as delineated in Proverbs 31 that I know, and because of her, and my father, I am what I am today.

My parents just celebrated their sixty-second anniversary of marriage last month.

Again, thank you for your prayers for my mother and family.

  1. May all your days be filled with peace and comfort. May YHWH bless you and your family and may your mother be Highly favored in His courts.

  2. May Master יהוה Eloheinu bless and comfort your Mom and Dad and all your family and friends. Toda rabba Abba Yah, for keeping her from pain. May Your will be done in all of Your mishpokha’s lives as You desire. May Your mercies endure forever.

  3. My heart breaks for you…not just because of your mom’s condition, but because of the more sudden shock of it. I know this shock first-hand now. It is just all encompassing. ABBA I humbly yet boldly implore you for peace and comfort for Natan, his mom, and the whole family as they grapple with this devastating blow. Please give strength and courage and the awareness of your presence to all as they walk thru this time as you bless them according to their needs and your perfect will in Yeshua. Amen.

  4. I am very sad to hear this. It is mercy from God that she has no pain. May you and family be comforted when remembering that death is not the end, and that the ressurrection is the beginning of LIFE without sickness and sorrow!

  5. Sorry to hear Natan. It’s always seems too soon and is a shock. Sometimes I think we think that a Biblical lifestyle makes us immune to disease and sickness, but clearly, that is not the case. In the end, we do the best that we can and put the rest in YHVH hands.
    2 Corinthians 1: 3-4

  6. We all are there with you and yours in spirit and will continue to lift up in prayer-I’m no stranger to cancer and pain so the fact that she’s not suffering is a blessing in and of itself-looking forward to the resurrection. Shalom, always.

  7. YHVH thank You for the life of Sir Natan’s Mother.
She has been a blessing to many people.
    Always be on her side,
comforting her & her immediate family.
She will ok inspite of her condition
& may it all end for the best & for Your Glory.
    Provide for all their needs.
    AMEIN.

  8. Dear Natan & Sandy,
We are thinking of you while you are going through this very sad phase in your life. We understand the pain you must be feeling, expecting your mom to leave this earth soon, even so you know that you will be re-united with her again in the soon future. Perhaps you can find some comfort in the words of Yesha’Yahu 57:1, 2:
“The righteous person perishes, and nobody gives it a thought.
Godly men are taken away, and no one understands
that the righteous person is taken away from the evil yet to come.
Yes, those who live uprightly will have peace as they rest on their couches.”
Our love to you and your family,
    Sonja & John

    • Thank you for reminding of this verse in Isaiah. I was looking for it recently in respect to my mother and couldn’t find it because I couldn’t remember the exact wording.

  9. A heartfelt thanks to all for your loving and encouraging comments regarding my mother. Currently, she is resting comfortably and she is in no pain—a huge blessing from YHVH!!!! The hospital staff and doctor/s are exceptional and Mom is very pleased about this. She is extremely weak, and can only talk for a few minutes at a time before becoming too tired to continue. My father was able to visit her yesterday for the first time since she entered the hospital. I was overjoyed to hear this. It’s a day-by-day situation, and the thought of her is constantly on my mind. Again, thank you for your prayers.

  10. Natan, all who know you and receive from you are holding up your arms for you and your family. May it comfort you that so many care!

  11. Praying for you, Natan. This
is is heartbreaking!! May YHVH grant you and your Mom peace in the middle of this storm.

  12. Dear Natan,

We do not receive news of death or disease as unbelievers do.
As said before, Is 57 v 1-2 gives comfort that the Creator takes the righteous home to save them from the trials that are ahead.
Also the glory ahead does not compare with the suffering now. Romans 8 v 18

You also are assured that you will see her again when you are all changed.

I am grateful she is without pain. I am also grateful that she is in high spirits which means no fear of the dreaded disease. I am convinced the fear of the disease allows greater suffering & earlier death than the disease itself.

A virtuous life with dietary obedience maybe the reason for no pain. So we thank God for her obedience. There is a lesson in it for some of us who think that grace means indulging in whatever we choose.

We of course will continue to pray because we do not know what God has in store. He may decide to heal her.

    Shalom
