‘God Is Our Refuge and Strength’: President Trump Declares Sunday a ‘National Day of Prayer’

This is good news, and praise Yah for it, but I’m going to be politically incorrect and state that one more component needs to be added to his equation: REPENTANCE!
BTW, after a quick check of the American mainstream media (CNN, Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS, AP, etc.) there is no mention of President Trump proclaiming Sunday as a national day of prayer. Only the Christian Broadcasting Network (and World Net Daily who picked up their story) reported this. And some people still believe that the mainstream media has no antiChristian bias????

President Donald Trump has just declared Sunday to be “a National Day of Prayer,” joining with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott who has also called on Texans to pray for recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey.

“We are deeply grateful for those performing acts of service, and we pray for healing and comfort for those in need,” the president’s proclamation states.

“As response and recovery efforts continue, and as Americans provide much needed relief to the people of Texas and Louisiana, we are reminded of Scripture’s promise that ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,'” the proclamation continues.

“I call on all Americans and houses of worship throughout the Nation to join in one voice of prayer, as we seek to uplift one another and assist those suffering from the consequences of this terrible storm,” Trump says.

Meanwhile, the governor of Texas has also called on his fellow Texans and people around the country to pray for Texas on Sunday.

Gov. Greg Abbott issued a proclamation calling for an official day of prayer for Texans “of all faiths and religious traditions and backgrounds.”

The governor is urging people to pray for the safety of first responders, public safety officers and military personnel involved in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

He’s also calling for prayers for the “healing of individuals, rebuilding of communities and the restoration of the entire region struck by this disaster.”

Abbott applauded Texans for helping each other through the ordeal and noted they are grateful for the support and resources they’ve received in days since Harvey struck.

Harvey has caused record flooding in parts of the state and has been blamed for the deaths of more than 30 people.

In 2011, Texas Gov. Rick Perry also called for official prayer but ironically–he called for prayers for rain. At the time, the Lone Star state was in the throes of severe drought and wildfires. Perry called for three official days of prayer, from April 22-24, to pray for rain.

  1. The thing which I noticed was regarding the sentence re Gov. Greg Abbott issued a proclamation calling for an O. D. O Prayer for Texans of all faiths & religious traditions & backgrounds .To me this seems like all different faiths …?interfaith as President Trumps daughter Ivanka is married to Jared Kushner & converted to Judaism when marrying.

. …I had read in an article ages ago during Trumps presidential campaign that his family had come from a Presbyterian background when he was a child & growing up…it had a picture of him holding an old family bible…..but in an interview on a video he was asked does he believe in repentance ?(personal) & his reply was… Oh I don’t see it like that; I ( meaning himself) believe in trying to make the world a better place….? he has changed his view on that only Father knows.

Our belief & faith in a sovereign Elohim is a journey …we have all come from such different backgrounds. belief systems etc…different christian backgrounds,( some non Christian etc.) different churches …some very diverse backgrounds..& some not too good…I am reminded of entering in the narrow way …as Natan said in the other posts Elohim.s standards & ways are different to mans…so we cant presume that our belief system is correct unless we match it with his word & his standards …The only way to the father is thru his son..Yeshua & his shed blood.

  2. Just an add on ..I remembered Donald Trump in the video mentioned he was a great fan of Norman Vincent Peele..? I’m sure Mr Peele wrote a book called the power of positive thinking ..I have looked up who was Norman Vincent Peele ;there is much info on this man & his beliefs. We we have to be careful what we worship or follow and not having any mixture that is not of Elohim.

Certain things crept in amongst the churches many years ago creeping into the foundations…and one of those was / is Freemasonary which is not of the father but many founding fathers were just that ; Freemasons and as long as u do good works u can be a Christian, Muslim, Jew or any other faith and still be one of them , we have to be so careful & discerning..

    • Trust me, this man of Yah and Bible teacher is not laboring under any misconceived delusions about President Trump’s spiritual status or the lack thereof or of those around him. Only Yah knows the true state of things. However, this nation is covered in such gross darkness from the top on down, and under the past president there was such a spirit of Antichrist at work, that presently I’m overjoyed at the smallest movement in the right direction as weak and impotent as it may be. Anytime a Bible verse is quoted by anyone—especially a person with a large platform—is a glorious day to me. Yes, I’m grieved by no mention of repentance or Yeshua or the cross, but it’s still something, and in this I will rejoice.

      • If they are not against us. They are for us. “John spoke up, “Master, we saw a man driving out demons in your name, and we told him to stop, because he doesn’t belong to our group.” “Do not try to stop him,” Jesus said to him and to the other disciples, “because whoever is not against you is for you.””

I agree wholeheartedly about believers discerning who and what we follow. We follow Yah. And not Cesar. But unlike the Natan, yourself and I, many Americans don’t and even know the difference. All they know is that they pray or don’t pray. I actually just got done watching this video which speaks to this point.

It is nice however, as Natan has pointed out with a breath of fresh air that any light is refreshing in these dark times. And any call to prayer is just that. A call. Which could lead to somebody speaking to me or one of us. And that is leading them in the right direction I would say.
Let us all pray for the leaders as Yah has called us. We can be the media, the journalist and reporters people read. Amen
