It took about a year to build.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hebrew Names for the Tabernacle<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i style=\"color: #000000;\">Mishkan<\/i>\u00a0is <i style=\"color: #000000;\">Strong\u2019s <\/i>H4908 meaning<i style=\"color: #000000;\"> \u201c<\/i>tabernacle, dwelling or habitation<i style=\"color: #000000;\">.\u201d mishkan<\/i> is from the root word <i style=\"color: #000000;\">shakan<\/i>\/if\u00d1 (<i style=\"color: #000000;\">Strong\u2019s <\/i>H7391) meaning \u201cto dwell, abide, settle down, reside, tabernacle.\u201d<i style=\"color: #000000;\"> <\/i>The word <i style=\"color: #000000;\">shechinah <\/i>derives from <i style=\"color: #000000;\">shakan<\/i> and refers to the manifest light or presence of YHVH among his people<i style=\"color: #000000;\"> <\/i>(Exod 25:8\u20139).<\/li>\n<li><i style=\"color: #000000;\">Ohel\u00a0<\/i>(as in <i style=\"color: #000000;\">tent of the congregation\/meeting<\/i>) is <i style=\"color: #000000;\">Strong\u2019s <\/i>H166 meaning \u201ca nomad\u2019s tent, dwelling, home, habitation\u201d<i style=\"color: #000000;\"> <\/i>(Exod 29:42).<\/li>\n<li><i style=\"color: #000000;\">Miqdash<\/i>\u00a0is <i style=\"color: #000000;\">Strong\u2019s <\/i>H4720 meaning<i style=\"color: #000000;\"> \u201c<\/i>sacred place, sanctuary, holy place\u201d<i style=\"color: #000000;\"> <\/i>and is from the primitive root <i style=\"color: #000000;\">qadash<\/i>\/\u00d1se (<i style=\"color: #000000;\">Strong\u2019s<\/i> H6942) meaning \u201cto consecrate, sanctify, prepare, dedicate, be hallowed or set apart, be separate or holy\u201d (Exod 25:8).<\/li>\n<li><i style=\"color: #000000;\">Kodesh<\/i> <i style=\"color: #000000;\">or sanctuary<\/i> because it was set-apart for a set-apart (<i style=\"color: #000000;\">kadosh<\/i>) Elohim (Exod 30:13).<\/li>\n<li><i style=\"color: #000000;\">Ohel haeduth<\/i> or <i style=\"color: #000000;\">the tabernacle\/tent of the testimony or witness <\/i>since it contained the ark of the covenant housing the Torah-law given to Moses, which was an abiding witness of Israel\u2019s covenant with YHVH (Num 9:15).<\/li>\n<li><i style=\"color: #000000;\">Mishkan haeduth <\/i>or <i style=\"color: #000000;\">tabernacle of the testimony<\/i> (Num 10:11).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Examples of YHVH Tabernacling With His People<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The children of Israel have just left Egypt and are now trekking through the wilderness. Within a couple of months, he gives them their first assignment. In Exodus 25, YHVH tells <!--more-->them to build a tabernacle. Why? He says to Moses, \u201cAnd let them make me a sanctuary that <b>I may dwell among them<\/b>\u201d (Exod 25:8). From the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, Elohim has wanted to \u201chang out\u201d with man. Elohim\u2019s desire to dwell or tabernacle with man is a theme that runs from Genesis to Revelation. We see this idea repeated in the Testimony of Yeshua (the New Testament).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>John 1:14<\/b>, \u201cAnd the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.\u201d The word <i>dwelt <\/i>(<i>skenoo, Strong\u2019s <\/i>G4637) means \u201ctent or tabernacle<i>.<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Luke 2:7<\/b>, The baby Yeshua was laid in a \u201cmanger.\u201d This was probably a <i>sukkah<\/i> or tabernacle<i>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Revelation 21:1\u20133<\/b>, \u201cNow I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from Elohim, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, \u2018Behold, the tabernacle of Elohim is with men, and He will <b>tabernacle<\/b> with them, and they shall be His people. Elohim Himself will be with them and be their Elohim.\u2019\u201d The word <i>tabernacle<\/i> in verse three is <i>skenoo <\/i>in the Greek, the same word used in John 1:14.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Examples of YHVH\u2019s People Tabernacling With Him<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <i>talithe\/talit<\/i> or prayer shawl<i> <\/i>worn by Jewish men is an examples of YHVH\u2019s people tabernacling with him. The word <i>tal-ithe<\/i> means \u201clittle tent<i>.\u201d <\/i>Each Hebrew man has his own little tabernacle, tent or prayer closet to pull over his head whenever he wants to tabernacle or commune with his Elohim. When a talit is spread out with one\u2019s arms it resembles a bird with wings. This represents YHVH\u2019s \u201cwings\u201d forming a protective shield or brooding over his people. Such a place becomes a place of refuge (Ps 91:1,4). The Spirit of Elohim brooded over the waters of the earth at creation (Gen 1:2). Yeshua spoke of his desire for Jerusalem as a mother hen spreads out its wings and gathers together its young (Matt 23:37). In ancient Mideast culture, a man would cast his outer garment over his wife-to-be as an act of claiming her for marriage. In Ezekiel 16:8, YHVH spread is \u201cwings\u201d (Heb. <i>kanaph<\/i> meaning \u201cedge, extremity, wings, bird\u2019s feathered wings,\u201d <i>Strong\u2019s <\/i>H3671) over his bride, Israel, to cover her nakedness. The Jewish wedding canopy or <i>chuppah<\/i> represents this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Constructing the Tabernacle\u2014All Israel Was Involved<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All Israel contributed to the building of the tabernacle (Exod 25:1\u20137), yet YHVH chose two Israelite artisans, Bezalel and Aholiab (Exod 31:1\u20136), filled them with the Spirit of Elohim \u201cin wisdom, understanding, knowledge an in all manner of workmanship \u2026\u201d This teaches us that the work of YHVH is a joint effort of the entire Body of YHVH-Yeshua, but that YHVH will endow certain individuals with unique gifts of the Spirit in order to accomplish his specific plans and purposes (Eph 2:22; 4:11; Rom 12:4\u20138; 1\u2009Cor 12 and 14).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Israelite Encampment Around the Tabernacle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Israelites camped around the tabernacle (Num 2:1\u201334). On the east side were Judah, Issachar and Zebulun; on the South side were Reuben, Simeon and Gad; on the west side were Ephraim, Manasseh and Benjamin; and on the north side were Dan, Asher and Naphtali. According to the numbers of the fighting men given in Numbers 2, we see that the encampment of Israelites around the tabernacle formed a perfect paleo-Hebrew letter <i>tav, <\/i>which looks like a cross.
