{"id":1976,"date":"2012-12-22T14:08:46","date_gmt":"2012-12-22T22:08:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/?p=1976"},"modified":"2014-08-23T15:47:13","modified_gmt":"2014-08-23T22:47:13","slug":"nuggets-in-the-torah-scroll-nine-spaces-missing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/2012\/12\/22\/nuggets-in-the-torah-scroll-nine-spaces-missing\/","title":{"rendered":"Nuggets in the Torah Scroll: Nine Spaces Missing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Genesis 47:28,<\/strong> The Jewish sages recognize that this final <i>parashah<\/i> (Torah portion) of Genesis chronicles Jacob\u2019s wish to reveal to his sons prophetic understandings pertaining to Israel\u2019s long and numerous exiles, culminating in the Final Redemption (return of Israel from her exile in \u201cBabylon\u201d at the end of the age prior to the return of Messiah at which time the two houses of Israel will be reunited under Messiah Son of David).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/2012\/07\/06\/torah-central\/torah-scroll-open-1-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1106\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1106\" alt=\"Torah Scroll-open 1\" src=\"http:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Torah-Scroll-open-11-300x188.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Torah-Scroll-open-11-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Torah-Scroll-open-11-476x300.jpg 476w, https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Torah-Scroll-open-11.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jacob states this in Genesis 49:1 when he speaks of his prophecies relating to what will befall his sons \u201cin the last days.\u201d Prior to the establishment of the Messianic Age (Millennium) all Israel would go into a time of darkness, gloom and exile.<\/p>\n<p>The Jewish sages teach that this idea is implicated in the fact that the Torah scroll fails to place the customary nine spaces between the last word of the previous <i>parashah<\/i> and the first word of the present one. There is only a one space gap in Hebrew letters which predicts the \u201cclosing in\u201d of Israel as they go into exile and captivity in Egypt.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div
