One talent of silver at today\u2019s rate of $30 per ounce would be worth $36,000. Ten thousand talents of silver would be worth about $36 million. A denarius was equivalent to a fair day\u2019s wages (Matt 20:2). If one earns $40,000 in a year and works 260 days per year, then 100 <em>denarii <\/em>would be equivalent to about $15,384.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/2012\/11\/05\/what-to-do-with-an-unpayable-debt\/debt-2098234\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1712\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1712\" title=\"Debt 2098234\" src=\"http:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Debt-2098234.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"156\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The lesson of Yeshua\u2019s parable about the unforgiving servant is obvious. If one\u2019s master forgives him of a debt that\u2019s impossible to repay ($36 million), then one should forgive one\u2019s neighbor the small debt of $15,384.
