{"id":13601,"date":"2018-11-29T07:12:14","date_gmt":"2018-11-29T15:12:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/?p=13601"},"modified":"2018-11-29T07:12:14","modified_gmt":"2018-11-29T15:12:14","slug":"eighteen-attributes-of-a-demonic-spirit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/2018\/11\/29\/eighteen-attributes-of-a-demonic-spirit\/","title":{"rendered":"Eighteen\u00a0Attributes of a Demonic Spirit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Demon-21446002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-13602\" src=\"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Demon-21446002.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"1069\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Demon-21446002.jpg 750w, https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Demon-21446002-210x300.jpg 210w, https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Demon-21446002-718x1024.jpg 718w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Mark 5:1\u201320, The Gadarene demoniac<\/b><i>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>This encounter between Yeshua and this demon-possessed individual teaches us about the characteristics of one who is tormented, oppressed or even possessed by an evil, unclean spirit.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One with an unclean spirit is \u201cunclean in thought and life\u201d (Mark 5:2).<\/li>\n<li>Such an individual may have a pre-occupation with things relating to death and dying (Mark 5:3).<\/li>\n<li>They may possess superhuman strength thanks to the aid of the demon in them (Mark 5:4).<\/li>\n<li>They may act wild, and unable to be restrained (Mark 5:4).<\/li>\n<li>They may be prone to fits of shouting loudly (Mark 5:5), shrieking or making a shrill cry (Mark 9:18).<\/li>\n<li>They may cut themselves, or resort to other acts of self-mutilation (Mark 5:5) or self destruction (e.g. burning oneself by fire, Matt 17:15; Mark 9:22), or attempts at drowning (Mark 9:22).<\/li>\n<li>The demoniac may possess supernatural knowledge (Mark 5:7).<\/li>\n<li>The demon can speak through the demonized person (Mark 5:7), or cry out (Mark 9:26).<\/li>\n<li>A demonic spirit wants to possess or inhabit something; if not a human, then an animal (Mark 5:12), or a house, an objects like idols or books (Acts 19:19; Rev 13:15) or even a mechanical device or \u201cmatrix\u201d (e.g. the image of the beast in Rev 13:13\u201314).<\/li>\n<li>They may be clothed improperly or scantily (Mark 5:15).<\/li>\n<li>They will not a possess a \u201cright [sound, self-controlled, sober]\u201d mind (Mark 5:15).<\/li>\n<li>A demonic or an unclean spirit may cause convulsions or spasmodic contractions, bodily contortions within a person, or cause a person to be hurled to the ground (Mark 1:25; 9:18, 20) resulting in one wallowing or rolling around on the ground (Mark 9:20).<\/li>\n<li>Epileptic-type seizures or madness can be symptoms of demon possession (Matt 17:15).<\/li>\n<li>A demoniac may foam at the mouth (Mark 9:18, 20).<\/li>\n<li>A demoniac may grind or gnash their the teeth (Mark 9:18)<\/li>\n<li>A demonic spirit can cause one\u2019s body to waste away, dry up or become rigid (Mark 9:18).<\/li>\n<li>Demonic spirits can accompany people as they come into the congregation of YHVH (Mark 1:23; Luke 4:33).<\/li>\n<li>A demonic spirit can make one to be mute or unable to speak (Mark 9:17).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How does one deal with a demon or demonic influence in a person? The short <!--more-->answer is this: Preach the gospel to them, and if they believe in Yeshua the Messiah, then, in the name of Yeshua, cast the demon out of them (Mark 16:15\u201317). (Luke 9:1)<\/p>\n<p>Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)<\/p>\n<p>Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)<\/p>\n<p>Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (Jas 4:7)<\/p>\n<p>And they overcame [Satan the serpent] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
