The name <i>moloch<\/i><i>\u00a0<\/i>in Hebrew means \u201cking\u201d<i> <\/i>with the root of the word meaning \u201cto rule or reign.\u201d Child sacrifice (the ancient form of modern abortion\/infanticide), though a pagan practice that<a href=\"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/2018\/08\/17\/abortion-and-worshipping-the-demon-god-moloch\/moloch-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13020\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-13020\" src=\"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Moloch-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nYHVH abhorred, was practiced by both houses or kingdoms of Israel as they drifted into syncretism with the heathen cultures around them (see 1\u2009Kgs 11:7; 2\u2009Kgs 16:3; 21:6; 23:10,13; Jer 7:31; 19:5; Ezek 16:20; 23:37). <i>Baal <\/i>appears to be a synonym of <i>Molach <\/i>(see Jer 19:5 and the <i>Ency. Britan. <\/i>eleventh edit., vol. 18, p. 676). The dead bodies of sacrificed children were thrown into the garbage dump of the Valley of Hinnom or Tophet just below the Temple Mount in Jerusalem (Jer 7:31; 19:5\u20136). Apparently, the children were not burned alive, but were slain (by knife) like any other sacrifice before being thrown into the fire and then into the garbage dump (Ibid<i>.<\/i>). The ancients sacrificed their children to appease their bloodthirsty gods of prosperity, sensuality and fertility (<i>The Story of Civilization, <\/i>vol. 1, by Will Durant, pp. 66\u201367, 297).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/2018\/08\/17\/abortion-and-worshipping-the-demon-god-moloch\/the-concept-of-abortion-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13018\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-13018\" src=\"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Abortion-AdobeStock_95371952-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Abortion-AdobeStock_95371952-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Abortion-AdobeStock_95371952-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Abortion-AdobeStock_95371952-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/hoshanarabbah.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Abortion-AdobeStock_95371952-450x300.jpeg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>What can we learn from these random pieces of information concerning the ancient practice of child sacrifice? It was done in honor of their deity; in other words, their idol was the <i>king <\/i>that <i>ruled <\/i>their lives. What is the chief deity in modern America and most everywhere else in the world? Money and wealth? Sex and pleasure? Fun and entertainment? In ancient times, children were killed by a knife, thrown into the fire and then into the garbage dump. Today, what happens in America? Parents abort <!--more-->their babies or have them murdered while being born (partial birth abortion) by using burning solutions to kill the baby in the womb and scalpels and scissors to hack the baby to pieces to aid in its extraction. Afterwards the dead baby is placed in a dumpster.<\/p>\n<p>What reasons do parents give for killing their children? \u201cIt will cost too much to raise them and it\u2019s too much trouble\u201d (greed, hedonism and selfishness). \u201cIt will interfere with my career\u201d (greed). \u201cI want to have pleasure \u00adwithout \u00adresponsibility\u201d (hedonism and greed). Regardless of the excuses, the reasons today are the same as those of the ancients: prosperity, greed, hedonism and so on. Are we any different or any more \u201ccivilized\u201d than the ancients? YHVH called abortion an <i>abomination<\/i> (which means \u201cdisgusting, abominable,<i> <\/i>abhorrent, detestable or loathsome<i>,\u201d<\/i> Deut 18:12). Do you abhor that which YHVH calls an abomination? In Scripture, does YHVH call children and fertility a curse \u2026 or a blessing? (See Deut 28:11, Ps\u202f127:3\u20135.)<\/p>\n<p><b>Deuteronomy 18:15<\/b>, <b><i>A prophet from your midst, like me, shall YHVH your Elohim raise up for you.<\/i><\/b> Obviously, this was fulfilled in the person of Yeshua the Messiah. The non-believing Jews, however, attempt to prove that this verse <i>does not<\/i> apply to Yeshua. For example, <i>The<\/i> <i>ArtScroll<\/i> <i>Stone Edition Chumash <\/i>in its commentary states, \u201cMoses told the nation that just as he was one of them, so God would designate future prophet<b>s<\/b> [plural] from among the people to bring them his word\u201d (p. 1033, emphasis added). What is wrong with this statement? Is the verse quoted accurately? Moses said \u201cprophet\u201d singular, not \u201cprophets\u201d plural, as the commentary says. So in this manner, the Jewish commentators switch the focus off of one single prophet who would arise, and make it appear as if all the prophets recorded in the Scriptures helped to fulfill this prophecy. This is dishonest biblical interpretation.<\/p>\n<p>On another note, does the \u201cJesus\u201d of the mainstream church who, it is taught by many church leaders, broke the Sabbath and came to do away with the Torah-law of Moses fulfill this prophecy? Didn\u2019t Moses say that the prophet would speak only the words that Elohim would give him (and the implication is that those words would not contradict what was given at Mount Sinai)? So did Yeshua come to do away with the Torah-law or not? (Read Matt 5:17\u201319.) In commissioning his disciples in Matthew 28:20, didn\u2019t Yeshua tell them <i>to do<\/i> and <i>to pass on<\/i> to others all that he had commanded them? Didn\u2019t Paul tell us to, \u201cFollow me as I follow the Messiah\u201d (1 Cor 11:1)? So how is it that so many people in the mainstream church believe otherwise about Messiah Yeshua and Paul relative to their teachings on the Torah-law? The point we are trying to make here is that the \u201cJesus\u201d of the Sunday church who, it is taught, came to annul the Torah, <i>does not<\/i> fit the criteria of this prophecy of Deuteronomy 18:15\u201319. Either the Torah prophecy is wrong and church tradition is correct or it is the other way around.
