  1. Nathan, can you or will you show me and tell me where in YHVH’s Word, The Holy Bible, YHVH gave the “authority” to “change” the name of His people He “chose” for Himself from Jacob/Israel to Jew? I have not read anywhere in scripture where when YHVH made His covenant with, gave His commandments to, lamented over, or rebuked His “chosen” Nation of people calls them and says, “Oh, Jew”, “Oh, Jews”, Or “children of Jew”! YHVH calls His chosen Nation of people and says, “Oh, Israel”, or “Oh, children of Israel”. Wasn’t Judah, the King of the Southern Kingdom of Israel, the fourth son of Jacob/Israel, and all the people of His kingdom “Israelites”? Even Yeshua was an “Israelite” from the lineage of David, and He was given the “mocking” name of “Jew” that the Israelites, dwelling in the Southern Israelite Kingdom of Judah by the surrounding foreign Gentile Nations and the Romans when they crowned our Messiah “King of Jews”! When, where, why, and who, did YHVH give the “authority” to change “Jacob/Israel” to “Jew” and change the name of the “land” YHVH gave Jacob/Israel and His descendants from Cannan to His Nation of “people” Israel!? Help!

  2. Hi Lela,
As far as I know, after the death of Solomon, the Kingdom of Israel was divided into 2 different Kingdoms. The Northern Kingdom was referred to as Israel, containing 10 of the tribes, while the Southern Kingdom was referred to as Judea, containing the tribes of Juda, Benjamin and Simeon.
After the Assyrians invaded Israel, the Israelites were taken away captive and foreigners were planted in the land. Officially, the Israelites never returned and are known as the ‘lost tribes’; however it is believed that most of their descendants are living in America and the UK.
In contrast, many Judeans returned to Judea after their 70 years of captivity in Babylon. However, after their various revolts, the Romans removed them from their land and renamed Judea ‘Syria Palaestina’ and Jerusalem they named ‘Aelia Capitolina’.
The name Jews comes from Judeans and has become generic over time.
    Blessings, Sonja
