What can YOU do about the child sex trafficking problem?

Yesterday I posted a disturbing news article about the horrific problem of child sex trafficking in the U.S. (and around the world). So far no comments have come in to this blog on disturbing story. Either it’s because people don’t care (which I doubt), or people don’t know what to say (I get that), or because people feel helpless to do anything about it (I get that too).

Well, there are some things that YOU can do. Here are my thoughts on this issue. (If you have any more suggestions, please post them in the comments section of this article, and I’ll add them to the list below.)

So what can YOU do about the rampant epidemic for child sex trafficking? Perhaps you don’t think you can do much. But really you can by tending to your own garden. You can begin by sharing the info on this blog (including the previously posted article on child sex trafficking) with those around you.

Chez vous (French for “at your own place”), there’s a lot you can do. As the saying goes, when the world is a mess and you can do much about it, you can sweep your own front porch or tend our own garden. This means strengthen your own family. Keep your marriages strong. Train your children, grandchildren and the other young people in your life in the ways of YHVH. (This is why I wrote and published Torah Explorers—https://www.hoshanarabbah.org/parshiot.html, so that parents would have a free tool to raise up their children in the ways of YHVH).

Here are some more things that YOU can do:

  • Love your children unconditionally—even the prodigals. Be there for them. Stay close to them.
  • Those of you who are retired, don’t selfishly move far away from your children and grandchildren, so that you can have your “fun in the sun” our whatever. Stay near them, so that you can exercise a godly influence on them and help to raise them.
  • Parents, limit and monitor your kids’ internet time.
  • Throw the television out the window!
  • Don’t give your kids smart phones until they’re older and can handle it.
  • On the settings mode of your children’s computers, set the controls so that porn can’t be viewed.
  • Help your kids to choose righteous friend and know who their friends are.
  • Homeschool your children. This means that one parent may have to stay home and forgo outside employment. You may have to reduce your income and lifestyle a bit by learning to live on one income. This investment in your family will pay off, though! (Try starting a home-based business with your kids and teach them some entrepreneurial skills.)
  • Spend time as a family doing activities together, especially in the out-of-doors.
  • Have regular prayer and Bible reading times with our children or grandchildren.
  • “Adopt” a young person into your family who is troubled or comes from a broken family.
  • The National Human Trafficking Hotline (NHTH) is a 24/7 phone number for victims and survivors of human trafficking. One can call this number with questions or tips, or for help in connecting with law enforcement or with people trained in helping victims. The phone number is 1-888-3737-888. The NHTH website is https://humantraffickinghotline.org.This hotline works in conjunction with and is supported by the US government’s Dept. of Health and Human Services (DHHS). 1. I totally agree! A child should not be filling their mind with most of what is out there today. And the schools teach alternate life style as something they really want to PUSH on the kids. Homeschooling is ideal. And family times together, and close communication about the dangers out there and what’s ahead, and how to prepare, is what needs to happen. I was blessed – my grandma lived across the street and my mom didn’t work outside the home except in summer – when she took us out to pick crops and learn how to earn our own money and manage it. She was with us. It was something we all experienced together. And we were back in time to see Daddy had a good meal after work also.

  2. I for one find it extremely disturbing! Beyond words to describe my emotions for those innocent souls! It makes me all the more to be a watchman for those children and pray others find the diligence to pray and watch out for the innocent!

    • Innocent souls is correct.

Of children, Yeshua said, ” But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14).

Elohim cares so much for little children that Yeshua said, “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven” (Matt 18:10).

  3. I am sharing the same comment on the FB post. There is a website called Truckers Against Trafficking that has a 30 min vid that shows what to look for. As a driver in my state I am required to be certified by this video. It is designed for drivers because truck stops, rest areas and pull overs are hot beds for prostitution. They have been for years. But it is also a good vid for anyone because it has an actual girl who was rescued from traffickers and you can see exactly what they do to victims. I highly recommend it. I will link the video that is on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVOfTh-Lgjw

  4. One item I feel needs to be added is make sure children know the no touch zone! If anyone, friend, adult (even a family member) or stranger violates the zone to report it.

  5. Yes Natan, I am disturbed beyond words and have been praying with the Ruach’s help. Not that you posted it, but that the human race is so depraved without Yeshua! I have also been repenting for any complaining I have done about my troubles. I can’t imagine the damage to those innocent boys and girls, and I pray to Elohim that He ends it all very soon. I can barely stand it!

  6. I agree whole heartedly about this and have raised my children with unconditional love and in knowing Yeshua and learning the Hebrew language homeschooling . We haven’t had a TV for a long time and only WiFi on my phone. I wish nothing like this happened to children but it’s true we have now and what G-d has given us to do our best with. I just reckon that so much money and effort is put into things that are business oriented for people’s own greed a strong group needs to come up with real plans to eradicate this heartbreaking issue and also save the children in North Korea . But otherwise as you say the best we can do is start in our own families and we can show and live by love and example and slowly hopefully the world will become a better place for children everywhere .

  7. Shalom Natan, I hope you and your family had a blessed Pesach & Feast of Unleavened Bread. At assembly we were discussing Exodus 34 and the topic of rape, abuse came up in the context of the victim’s contribution to responsibility for being assaulted. Praise Yah that in the morning I had read your email and I read to our group all that displayed up to “or people don’t know what to say…” and encouraged everyone to go to your blog and read the two articles. I reminded them that we all live in or near one of the worst US cities, in TX, known for the international sex slave trade. Many years ago when my children were very small I read about a horrid, frightening statistic that by age 18, one in three females were being sexually abused. And let’s never forget that male children are also vulnerable and abused. Thank you for your work and reminders.

  8. Shalom to everyone,
This subject of human trafficking is horrendous! Our time is really coming
to a close, for this act of attacking children, for pleasure, is an act of Satan instituting his plan to diminish the human race. I have dealt with these damaged human beings. They are either so far past point of helping, or they join in and become perpetrators themselves or they die. The disgusting acts of child molestation should be publicized and studied. This to help the children just being born and little innocents that need our help in our specific communities. Education is the key to erradication.
