Acts 2:42, 46, They continued. This passage along with 1 Tim 4:13 is a list of activities the early saints did when they gathered together. This included continuing steadfastly in the apostles’s doctrine, which includes “reading [the “Old Testament” Scriptures], exhortation, [studying or teaching] doctrine” (1 Tim 4:13), fellowshipping, eating meals together, praying and praise [and worshipping] Elohim.
Expounding on this further, we read in 1 Cor 14:26, “Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.” Spiritual gifts should be exercised when the saints come together as well (1 Cor 14:12).
How many modern church gatherings habitually incorporate these elements into their weekly meetings?
Thank you for sharing this. I was wanting to note these verses for the house church I go to but when I look up Acts 4: 42, 46 my NKJ bible doesn’t have those verses. Am I missing something?
Not sure what’s going on. The NKJV Bible I have open on my desk in front of me has those verses in it.
My Bible has no Acts 4: 42-46. Perhaps you mean Act 2:42-46?

same with my Good News printed in Korea Revised version 1992 &1979 version? ACTS 4 Finishes at verse 37 same with NIV 2011. I know I have read the 1 Tim 4:13 ref. Hope you find the answer. It should have said Acts 2 not Acts 4. I’ve corrected the typo.
The last church my husband and I attended practiced these passages. It was a small congregation and the pastor was 92 years old when he passed on to glory. He always said he knew he should maintain the Acts 2 format. Since his death we had to leave from there. The remaining body did not want to continue in that format. We have since been drawn to our Hebraic roots and founded our home church where we implement all you have stated from scripture. We just observed our third Passover, following it up with the Feast of Unleavened Bread. What a powerful and meaningful time it was/is! I am so thankful to the Ruach for leading us this way. When we ask, we receive; when we seek, we are sure to find. Praise Yah from whom all blessings flow! Thank you Natan and Sandi for being part of our nourishment and guidance.
A good reminder of the simple elements of what we are to do in sharing together the life that He has purposed for us when we gather as His people. It’s not showbiz!

This seems to suggest that everyone and anyone at any particular gathering will contribute in any of these ways at different times. Do you agree? Or do you think that somehow it becomes more defined, as assigned by the Ruach HaKodesh, who the individuals are that will do each of those things? Do you think it is best planned and led by someone or is it best to be spontaneous, waiting upon and being led by the Ruach?
Also, have you regularly experienced all of these things being done in your gatherings over the years, including someone speaking in tongues with interpretation? I have experienced them all in various gatherings, including prophetic revelations, but tongues and interpretation has been a great rarity. I wonder why that has been so uncommon?
My answer is yes to all of your questions.
Shalom Jerry I wonder if the tongues with another interpreting may be rare because it is an extremely intimate exchange of two becoming one in God’s hand so there is no hiding amongst many or the ” I could be wrong as an individual’ responsibility. So the trust/ faith involved between the two exhibiting the gift between each other and God is tremendous as it is an act of surrender of individuality and people are perhaps a little fearful of letting that level of trust manifest.
Just some thoughts.
