One clue to answer the question: It’s not the Jews!
Genesis 46:14 and 16, Jacob’s Prophecy Over Ephraim and Manasseh
While prophesying over Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, Jacob crossed his hands over their heads making the symbol of the Paleo-Hebrew letter tav (like the letter t or x in the alphabet), which resembles a cross and in that ancient Hebraic script and according to some Hebrew scholars pictographically means “sign of the covenant.” Jacob then spoke of the Heavenly Messenger (the Hebrew word malak mistranslated as “angel” in most Bibles) of YHVH (i.e. the preincarnate Yeshua) who had redeemed him from all evil (see Gen 31:11–13). Jacob then prophesied that the descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh would become like “fish in the midst of the land” (literal translation of Gen 48:14–16; see The ArtScroll Stone Edition Tanach).
In light of this prophetic symbolism, which present day religious group would qualify as having fulfilled Jacob’s prophecy as to who the descendents of Ephraim and Manasseh would be? Which religion on earth uses the fish as their symbol, speaks of a Messenger from YHVH as their Redeemer, and has the sign of the Paleo-Hebrew letter tav, which looks like a cross? The Buddhists? The Moslems? The Hindus? Even the Jews? No! Only Christianity fits this enigmatic criteria. Many Christians are without a doubt the literal descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh. Those who are not, according to the Paul the apostle, once they come to saving faith in Yeshua in some unique sense become the descendants of Abraham (e.g. Gal 3:7, 29). Many of these unsaved descendants of Abraham will recognize Yeshua their Messiah on the day that he returns to Jerusalem (e.g. Zech 12:10).
Which nation on earth is without a doubt still the greatest Christian nation? It is the United States of America. Having an understanding of how Jacob’s prophecy to Ephraim and Manasseh was fulfilled is the first piece of the puzzle in identifying America in Bible prophecy.
Very interesting explaination for me as a Messianic Yahudim and it clears out the passage of the grafting of the olive tree. Now so individuals won’t be satisfied until you can show where Ephraim & Manasseh where regionally came from and turned to Christianity. It seems like some of the Hebrew Roots movement are too fixed on the racial identity and less fixed to the word of YHWH and Yahshua desires for us to be a holy people.
I agree. We should not be fixated on racial identity, but on our identity with Yeshua as the one new man (Epp 2:15) and the Israel of Elohim (Gal 6:16).
Too many people in the Messianic Jewish Movement wear their tribal identity like a badge of honor on their shirtsleeves and make others feel like second class citizens. They will deny they do this, but it’s the truth. Nearly everyone they meet, they have to let them know that their Jewish. Paul came against this racial pride in his epistle to the Romans. Likewise, there are folks who brag about being Gentiles. More pride!
The reason many in the Hebrew roots movement make a big thing about being Israel or Ephraim is because their Messianic Jewish brothers are bragging about being Jewish, and they use it to subordinate their non-Jewish brothers. It’s called human nature and pride. As a knee-jerk reaction, the Ephraimites feel the need to defend themselves by bragging about their identity as well. It’s all pride and carnality. Let’s brag about Yeshua! About being in him and being part of his one new man family! Anything that diminishes Yeshua is of the flesh and the devil.
The only reason we teach about the Ephraim -Christian connection is to awaken people to their spiritual Israelite roots in hopes they will start reading and obeying the rest of the Bible, which will lead them to a deep walk with Yeshua and prepare them to be the holy and righteous bridegroom that is ready for him at his return. Period. What we are doing is a fulfillment of Mal 4 about turning the hearts of the children back to the fathers before the second coming.
I would be interested in knowing the descendant’s identity to confirm the prophesy over Joseph and his descendants. I finds this intriguing.

Let MY NAME be NAMED on them”. The NAME of ISRAEL would ALSO be their NAME. EPRAHIM who RECEIVED that COVETED BLESSING from ISRAEL (JACOB) was later called by the name ISRAEL many times. The KINGDOM of ISRAEL was called EPHRAIM as well. We see this clearly in the book of HOSEA where GOD rebukes the nation ISRAEL, using the name EPHRAIM, the one who received Jacob’s BLESSING AND NAME ISRSEL. We see GOD interchangeably using the name of EPHRAIM and ISRAEL in many places.

Of course the racial thing, even the national thing, is often used by various folks to feel good about themselves and lokk down on others. But if one were to trace the lineage of the truly yet quietly blessed and unassuming Joseph to his blessed son Ephram and his blessed son Shuthelah and is son Eran (Iran), we find a people who are not as popular nowadays as they should be, the Persians. But Cyrus, Darius, Xerxes and other kind and loving leaders of ancient Persia along with the Sufi saint poets of the middle ages like Rumi, Hafez, Sa’di, Ferdosi, etc., etc., demonstrate the positive qualities of Joseph who was humble as well as very blessed and quite superior although not flaunting it. He did not lord it over others by claiming to be blessed and superior and neither should any of his descendants. Persian Sufi saints have shown us how to stay humble and kind while being special. Yes, many Persians left their homeland and immigrated north to Europe. To name a few: the Kermani became the Germani, the Sakistani the Saxons, the Gatae the Goths, the Jat the Jutes, the Parisi (Parsi) the Parisians and of course the Iranians were also the Irish. In part, at least. The Bible teaches that we were to be scattered to the four corners of the earth and the furthest islands of the sea.
I just happened to come along this article and I found it so intriguing consider what I have been learning. Around the Christian Celebration of Easter, I was seeking the most High God and I simply asked what was wrong. I felt something wrong in my spirit for years and Elohim revealed to me how we in the christian church have turned to paganism and not knowing His law and who He truly is. Needless to say my heart was grieved and I fell in repentance before Elohim and He revealed to me then I am descendant of Ephraim and I needed to go back to the beginning. As in Genesis, that is when I found out about what would happen to the tribes of Israel. So I have went back to the beginning and He has been speaking to me through His word. I still have lots to learn.

I started research into the tribes and our heritage. I found a lot of interesting information. Many of which shocked me. I felt sad in my spirit as I knew this was deception. I’m referring to the Hebrew Roots people (I assume this is who they are.) I wanted just to stop looking as that was horrible and in discerning, not of YHVH. I’m observing the Shabbat now. Studying Turah and here I am again with a better understanding and more questions. I sense the Spirit drawing me again to a deeper understanding. To puff up, definitely not. I believe, I’d just like to know where I’ve been (descendents) since the beginning, I guess. I’ve questioned the person of Isra’el for many years. I don’t believe in the term “Spiritual Isra’el” as how I belong in the Kingdom of YHVH. I belong, period. Knowing who you are makes all the difference. Does it change a person? Maybe, but only by Yeshua and His redemptive blood am I a new creation. But then, we were also called from before the foundations of the earth. What a “Wonder-Full” thought.

Ephraim was already laid waste. History tells us that this prophecy was fulfilled. Does it have a dual fulfillment? If so, that’s a whole other discussion.
It is not a question of physical genetic inheritance as in descendants of Abraham for the inheritance of Adam is already corrupt and leads only to sin and death. All the sons of Adam are in this inheritance by default. That is all of us, all races and nations, even sons of Abraham and as such, no kinsman redeemer can be found among them as all have forfeit their life already as the wages of sin is death. However, there is one who is our kinsman through his mother but his father is not a son of Adam but instead conceived of the Spirit of God as both the Bible and Koran testify, yet the latter does not recognise the significance of this. Yeshua (Jesus) is the only one who can stand as Kinsman redeemer for the children of Adam. As inheritance is passed through the father to the son, His life is to forfeit, so He alone is able and does pay the redemption price ” the wages of sin is death” so that anyone may come into His redemption. It is not automatic though. While Ruth and Naomi pursued inheritance through Boas redemption of it, others dependants chose to simply return to the inheritance of their original families. So to, all of us are free to continue in the inheritance of Adam (death) or to pursue the divine (Spiritual) inheritance of Yeshua (Life).

As I understand it, Ephraim isn’t just America, but all Christians in general wherever they are. Until recently, America has had the largest concentration of Christians of any nation. I think it helps us all to know our natural lineage in order to understand who we are and embrace who Adonai created and purposed us to be. For example, I believe the natural lineage of Yeshua was important for him to know and understand what his full purpose in the earth was. It didn’t override Adonai’s ordained and planned use for him but I believe enhanced it. I think theres a slight similance for many who are from that same region, who were descendants and produced offspring from the different tribes. There are many African Americans who are descendants but for some reason it’s a less mentioned fact which is a question I’d ask you and others to ponder. I think its equally important for them to know their natural lineage in order to understand their worth in the eyes of Yeshusa and Adonai. If they haven’t already accepted Yeshua they can be led to just by knowing their history, and if they have already, that knowledge will enhance their understanding of what’s required and expected of them. Yes there are many who are wearing their heritage as a badge to flaunt but not all. Not all Christian’s are lumped in and counted as nothing because of mistakes and errors a few have made, therefore it shouldn’t be the practice when looking at a race of people especially when one doesn’t know or refuse to be mindful of their history.

Please don’t put words in my mouth. I mean what I say, and say what I mean. I am very familiar with British-Israelism and understand it as well as anyone. My grandfather began studying it in the 1940s and this understanding was passed on down to me. But this is not what I’m teaching here. I’m discussing issues at a much higher level and a larger playing field. I will not propagate racist ideas, or even marginally racist ideas, and I will not narrow YHVH’s plan of redemption down to just a couple of nations, although, admittedly America and Britain et al have been key players in helping to fulfill that plan. In the not too distant past back to its founding, America was the greatest Christian nation on earth despite its current post-Christian state. To be sure, America is part of the whore of Babylon, perhaps the leader of Babylon the Great, but Scripture clearly indicates that Babylon the Great is a worldwide system—NOT just one nation. Moreover, the whore itself is a religious system. America is the seat of any major world religion. Mecca and Rome certainly are, though. America may be the political head of end times Babylon, since the United Nations is headquartered here. America is the economic leader of the world, though London is still the leading financial center of the world with New York number two. I mention the religious, political and economic aspects of Babylon the Great since Rev 13 indicates that these are the three main components of end times Babylon. This is very interesting to me as when I was about 14 years of age I asked God what His name for my people (American) and myself was and the name Ephraim was the instant response that came to my mind .
I was surprised and perplexed as to this answer as I had asked this question in regards to understanding whether we where a part of Biblical prophecy and I knew the story of Joseph (my favorite biblical person) quite well .
If people could understand what that means I think they would take the warnings of the prophets very seriously but perhaps God chooses to hide this knowledge for now ?

While I don’t disagree with what you’re saying about how Great Britain and the US fit into biblical prophecy, I have never confined Ephraim, which is often a biblical label for all the tribes of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, to just one nation. The Bible also states that Ephraim and the ten tribes that it led and represented would be scattered all across the globe. This is more than just GB and the US. This is a reference to Christians wherever they may be found. I have written about this and made many videos on this subject over the years that prove this point from Scripture. Shalom!
remember the words of Jacob in Gen 48 saying about Manasseh : he will be a great nation (great Britain). And for Ephraim his brother will be a group of nations. United States is a group of nations.
Ephraim is a nation today because the Bible has a e specific prophesies for them us a people than still not accomplished.

It is difficult and highly speculative to pin down specific tribes with specific nations, which is why in my writings I refuse to do so.
Over the years, some people have speculated that Ephraim was Great Britain and its empire—a mulitude of nations—(which no longer exists) and America—a single great nation—based on Gen 35:11 and 48:19. To my thinking, this interpretation is intriguing and may have some merit, but I believe, at this point, that it is presumptive to definitively make this assertion, so in my writings I have refrained from doing so. In everything that I write, I endeavor to remain on solid ground scripturally and logically. It’s much better that way. Blessings.

Not many people know who America and England really is. One only has to look how England became a powerful nation, but America became even greater. Jacob knew this.
And not many know that Jews are Israel and Americans are Israelites. I know there’s many opinions on this. Thanks to our Great Grandfather Jacob, many generations removed, for crossing his arms to give the birthrights in that order.

I am reluctant to believe that Ephraim is the Western Christians (and other Christians) because Hosea proclaims many words from God which say, amongst much more,, that; “Ephraim does not return to the LORD his God, or search for Him”Hos 7:10, “For I will be like a lion to Ephraim, like a great lion to Judah. I will tear them to pieces and go away… Then I will go back to My place until they admit their guilt…”
Clearly, these verses refer to Ephraim as Israelites/Jews.
It is encouraging, however, that when God refers to Ephraim in Jeremiah, as His firstborn son, this is obviously not according to physical birth (Ephraim was Joseph’s second born, and Jacob’s adopted son), but a spiritual adoption by God Himself, speaking about what will happen when Ephraim finally admits his guilt, and is redeemed by God.
You don’t need to be reluctant. Here is why. When coming to conclusions or determining truth about any subject in Scripture, we must read the whole counsel of YHVH’s Word. To cherry pick, so to speak, one verse out of Scripture and to make a determination therefrom is robbing ourselves of the full understand and the whole truth of a matter. All that to say this: Scripture in hundreds of places speaks of the return of the apostate Israelites at the end of the age. I have written a lot about this subject with much documentation. I mean do they really keep his commandment? Just as an example, Christians put away the feast of Yahweh and basically replaced then with worldly feast of men.
Just in the one but huge example has Ephraim really returned. They are slowly and one day all his commander will be written on their hearts.

Bible truth 101: The Jews (from the biblical Hebrew word Y’hudim) are from the tribe of Judah (the singular form of the biblical Hebrew word Y’huda from which our English word Judah derives). Judah is one of 12 tribes from the 12 sons descended from Jacob. Joseph was the younger brother of Judah. Joseph was not descended from Judah. How could he when he was Judah’s brother? Joseph had two sons: Ephraim and Manasseh who were Judah’s nephews, not his sons. Therefore, Ephraim and Manasseh are not Jews. Sorry to be so elementarily blunt, but this is as simple as 2+2=4. Sadly, many in the mainstream church have missed this simple truth. Even the modern Orthodox Jews confess that they are from the tribe of Judah. They also confess in the daily morning prayers that the other 11 tribes will be returning in an end time event called the final redemption. Many of the Jews in the Christian church are willingly ignorant of this simple fact, because it is has been extremely profitable for them to keep the Jew-Gentile paradigm going in that they view all non-Jews as Gentiles, which is contrary to Paul in Eph 2:11-19 and Gal 3:29 (and numerous other Scriptures). I could go on and on about this subject, but there is not a single scripture that indicates or even hints at the fact the Ephraim and Manasseh are from the tribe of Judah. I have written and published numerous articles and made many videos spelling this truth out verse by verse from the Bible. Finally, there are 12 gates in the New Jerusalem named after the 12 tribes of Israel. Judah is but one of those tribes with its own gate. Ans: Cause in this year,GOD will rule upon the descendants of Ephraim and set them free from the idols that enslaved them. Right now, Ephraim and Menashe are bad boys who needs to be punished. They will be scold severely by GOD before 2026.
( Yes. They will be scold by God through WW3 and by using 2nd Indo-China war as a tool, God will set them free. In this Indo-China War, China will win. China will colonize Ephraim and Menashe only for a short year. After this, Ephraim and Menashe will be able to get independence to become the most powerful nation. 2/3 of the Ephraim and Menashe will be allowed to die rather than suffering.)
Note: Beleive it or not, it’s upto you. I don’t care if you don’t believe it nor I don’t care if you believe it. Many times, the Almighty God has sent his messengers to warn them because God loves them. But instead of beleiving his messengers, Ephraim and Menashe used to make fun of God’s messengers. I actually found this blog through a Google search digging for commentary on Genesis 49. Glad I did. I find myself these days in much agreement with Commonwealth Theology, and much of that looks to be in agreement with I find with your teaching , albeit what little I’ve read thus far.
Whatever tribe we may recon ourselves to be descended from genetically, and the intriguing possibilities presented therein; consequently speaking it makes no difference whether we are natural branches or grafted in. Absolutely Nathan. 2nd Timothy 3 1-7 is the current culture in this nation and world. In my 76 years on earth, I have never seen anything like it. And God is nowhere, or in very few places. Thanks for the response.
