Blog Scripture Readings for 9-13 Through 9-19-15

THIS WEEK’S SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR STUDY AND DISCUSSION:

Parashat Vayelekh — Deuteronomy 31:1–30
Haftarah — Hosea 14:2-10; Micah 7:18-20; Joel 2:15-27**
Prophets — Nahum 3:1–19; Habakkuk; Zephaniah
Writings — 2 Chronicles 16:1 – 22:12
Testimony — Revelation 2:1 – 8:13

Most of this week’s blog discussion points will be on these passages. If you have general comments or questions on the weekly Scripture readings not addressed in a blog post, here’s a place for you to post those. Just use the “leave a reply” link below.

The full “Read Through The Scriptures In A Year” schedule, broken down by each day, can be found on the right sidebar under “Helpful Links.” There are 4 sections of scripture to read each day. One each from the Torah, the Prophets, the Writings, and from the Testimony of Yeshua. Each week, the Torah and haftarah readings will follow the traditional one-year reading cycle.

** A different haftarah is read when it is a special sabbath in traditional Judaism. The sabbath occurring between Yom Teruah (Trumpets) and Yom Kippur (Atonement) is called Shabbat Shuvah or Shabbat T’Shuvah (Sabbath of Return or Sabbath of Repentance).

  1. I have a friend who is Jewish and a believer in Yeshua and lately he made a comment that is causing division between us. He said in the new Jerusalem that the Temple sacrificial system would return and my disagreement was ” For what reason if we have a new High priest and Priest hood in Yeshua”. Why would there be a need? He’s the ultimate sacrificial Lamb of YHVH .
He told me Yeshua was high priest of a heavenly kingdom but not the high priest of an earthly kingdom where the Temple and priesthood of Moses and Aaron would still reside. This is getting into an adult food area for me spiritually in my walk. I think i’m right in this.
