  1. Very good teaching. For me its been over 12 years trying to figure out what my calling is for YHVH, what he wants me to do. Any suggestions? I have prayed ,fasted, stayed still, but no indication.
Again thank you for the teaching,
    Shalom

  2. Wow, that’s a good question that many people wonder about. I almost need to interview someone and to start asking them some questions about their spiritual and natural gifts to find out what YHVH has called them to do. Also, we need to bloom and grow where the Father has planted us, and to use the means and resources he has placed at our disposal, and then to just step out in faith.

YHVH isn’t looking for capability, but availability. You may not think that you’re capable of being used for the kingdom, but YHVH doesn’t care about that. He just wants a willing heart and a little faith. That’s all it takes.

Some times we overlook the obvious that is just in front of us. Ask Abba to open your eyes to see what’s already in your hand, and in front of your face that you can do now.

Look for a spiritual need that others around you have, and just start to meet it. That’s all Yeshua did in his ministry. He met people at their point of need. If they were hungry, he fed them. If they needed healing, he healed them. If they had questions, or needed discipled, he met those needs too. In the process of doing this, share the gospel with them.

It’s all about other people—serving them, blessing them, and meeting their needs.

Ask YHVH to give you a fresh baptism of his love and his Spirit. His love in us for others will motivate, even compel us to do outreach, and then his Spirit will supernaturally empower us to do what we couldn’t do in our own natural strength.

You may not think that there’s anything you can do, or that you can’t do it well. Remember that YHVH is just looking for willingness and availability. When we are weak, then pray that he will use us and then he will be strong through us for his glory.

YHVH has called us to be a river of life to those around us.

For example, I studied to be a print journalist. That career fizzled, and now I use my writing training and abilities to teach and train people in the Bible. That’s just one of my ministries. Another one is this. I’ve always wanted to play a musical instrument, so a year ago I bought a classical guitar and am teaching myself to play it. Someday, I’ll be able to join our congregation’s praise and worship team. I like to talk, and to study the Bible. Voila—a ministry of being a Bible preacher! I studied French for 15 years and became fluent in it and got a BA from a university. Well, I don’t get to speak French much, but I’ve used my linguistic training to study Hebrew and Greek as well. This helps me when I’m doing biblical research into the languages of the Bible, and I use this ability in the papers I write and the sermons I preach. The possibilities for ministries are endless. Do you get the idea?

I hope that helps. These are just a few ideas off the top of my head.

If you’re still stumped, email me privately and we’ll set up a time to talk on the phone. I’ll interview you and ask you some questions that might get the spiritual wheels turning for you.

    Blessings!

  3. Shalom Natan,

Have I read over your response several times today, thank you for your time, along with prayer. I guess in ways I am Blessed with several gifts and don’t realize it. I looked back on my life since the Calling and the difference between then and now, amazing!!!
Not realizing as I prayed for people they received help, I have witnessed people experience healing, people discouraged to finding contempment,

YHVH has helped me in so many ways personally, darkness to light.

How people may approach me and tell me their troubles. people I dont know and being told how people look to me for spiritual understanding that I was unaware of.

It may not be one Gift that stands out, but many that flow thru me to others.as YHVH wills.

How I was lead to Truth, your teachings being one of the streams

So I will be still and and allow HIS presence to flow thru me to others as HE wills.

I remember at my calling, the presence of the voice in my head,PRAY,PRAY,PRAY…

All Praise and Glory to YHVH
    Shalom

  4. What resources would you recommend for learning biblical Greek? I’m thinking a style à la Wheelock’s Latin. I’m definitely a book learner, as opposed to audio. 🙂

I have a MA in French, reading knowledge of Russian and Latin, and taught high school French and Latin for a few years. 🙂

    • For Greek, try William Mounce’s Basics of Biblical Greek textbook and his accompanying workbook. Three years ago, I took a year long class from an out of work Greek college professor. There were five of us in the class and we met for 2 1/2 hours once a week for a year. We went through the whole book and by the end of the year I was translating whole sections of the NT from Greek into English.

My understanding is that this textbook is so good that about three-fourths of the seminaries in the US use it.

I have a BA in French and studied for a year (total immersion) in Lausanne, Switzerland. That was 30+ years ago. I studied it for 15 years, and it’s so deeply instilled in me and I can still speak and think in French, though I’m rusty. I never had the opportunity to teach it and never get to use it.
