THIS WEEK’S SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR STUDY AND DISCUSSION:

Parashat Matot — Numbers 30:2 (1)* – 32:42
Haftarah — Jeremiah 1:1 – 2:3
Prophets —Ezekiel 25:1 – 31:18
Writings —Ezra 2:1 – 8:36
Testimony — 2 Corinthians 6:1 – 11:33

Most of this week’s blog discussion points will be on these passages. If you have general comments or questions on the weekly Scripture readings not addressed in a blog post, here’s a place for you to post those. Just use the “leave a reply” link below.

The full “Read Through The Scriptures In A Year” schedule, broken down by each day, can be found on the right sidebar under “Helpful Links.” There are 4 sections of scripture to read each day. One each from the Torah, the Prophets, the Writings, and from the Testimony of Yeshua. Each week, the Torah and haftarah readings will follow the traditional one-year reading cycle.

* Verse numbers in Hebrew Bibles and Christian Bibles can sometimes be different. The verses in the parenthesis refer to the verse number in Christian Bibles.

  1. I could have swore it says in my New Testament that Jesus declared all foods clean. Why the dietary restrictions? Jesus told Peter to Rise kill and eat. Which was in reference to the Gentiles. How can a perfect God makes us “bad” food? Haven’t you taken this too far? I’m asking in love.

    • I have addressed these issues and answered these questions both in writing (go to HoshanaRabbah.org and click on “articles” and then go to “righteous living”) and in two videos on our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/HoshanaRabbah —— scroll down until you come to the videos with the pig cover). What you have been taught to believe in your churches is biblically incorrect. How could it be that so many churches have been so wrong for so long on such a basic truths as this? To answer this question, watch my YouTube video on “How the Church Left Its Jewish Roots.”

  2. And if I understand your message its basically “grace does not nullify the law”. Yes saved by grace, but also the law should be followed. Ok, well I’m actually all for that if what Paul really meant. But I’m no Jew, not even close so where would I even begin?

    • Excellent question.

Righteous living as a follower of Yeshua has nothing to do with ethnicity (i.e. being Jewish). It has everything to do with loving Elohim by keeping his commandments (John 14:15). Abraham wasn’t Jewish, neither was Noah, or Isaac or Jacob for that matter, yet they all followed YHVH’s righteous laws or standards or righteousness. Jews are descended from Judah, the son of Jacob. The Jews were only one of 12 tribes of Israel — there are 11 others.
The church has made obedience to YHVH a Jewish vs. Gentile thing to get out of having to keep his laws/standards of righteousness. This is a false and unbiblical paradigm.
Please watch my YouTube video on the “One New Man.” Go to my YouTube channel and scroll down until you come to it (https://www.youtube.com/user/HoshanaRabbah). This will help you to understand.
